Papich Construction is currently seeking a Project Engineer to join our team.

What You’ll Do…

The Project Engineer will be responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, and managing onsite construction engineering activities for concrete, underground utilities, paving, and heavy civil construction projects to ensure quality and cost. The individual must be able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment. Some night and weekend work will be required.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Assist in the coordination and scheduling of subcontractors and other forces.
• Act as primary liaison between the field operations and central accounting department for the purpose of accurate time keeping procedures, and complete job cost accounting and reporting.
• Work with Area and Project Superintendents to develop short-term working schedules, track material needs and availability for all projects.
• Track and document quantities and field measurements for progress payment purposes.
• Create Daily Extra Work Reports and submit them for review.
• Represent company during client and project management meetings to ensure effective communication.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by enforcing company procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Process and track all submittals.
• Process Requests for Information (RFI).
• Submit Staking Requests.
• Prepare traffic control plans and schedule weekly lane closures.
• Perform Takeoffs for plan changes.
• Create daily timecards in HCSS and monitor and adjust timecards created in the field.
• Perform other related duties as may be requested/required.

What You’ll Bring…

Required Qualifications:

• Strong experience with highway type construction.
• A valid driver's license and acceptable MVR in accordance with Company Vehicle Program policy is required.
• Ability to read and interpret construction contracting/bidding documents, materials, and drawings.
• Forensic levels of attention to detail, organized, and able to meet stringent deadlines.
• Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities.
• Excellent reading comprehension – strategic highlighting / parsing.
• Concise and professional writing and public speaking ability.
• Positive attitude, good people skills and an ability to work under pressure.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred, or equivalent combinations of technical training and related experience.
• 5+ years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficiency with Blue Beam and OST preferred.
• Proficiency with Heavy Job and HCSS preferred.

Work Schedule:

• Full-time
• 8, 10, 12-hour shift(s)
• Monday through Friday
• Day/Night shift
• On call
• Weekends as needed

Important Notes :

• This position will be based on the Central Coast of CA and requires full-time, in-office/on-site presence. This is not a remote or hybrid position.
• We are seeking qualified candidates that are available to start immediately.
• We strongly prefer local candidates or those with prior plans to relocate.
• Selected candidates for all positions must submit to post offer pre-employment drug/alcohol screen.

Work Environment :

• Indoor and outdoor as required.
• Ability to complete work tasks under various adverse weather conditions including heat in excess of 100 degrees, cold, and rain.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds or more.
• Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to safely climb up and on trucks and loads.
• Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment.
