Technical Writer

Optomi, in partnership with a leader in the automotive industry is seeking a Technical Writer for their Plano, TX location! This individual will be responsible for bridging knowledge gaps, reducing ambiguity, and establishing a robust documentation framework. You’ll work cross-functionally with SREs, Cloud Engineers, and governance/security teams to build standardized and scalable content that supports application team self-service and operational readiness.

Responsibilities of the right candidate:

• Develop and maintain a user-facing knowledge base tailored to app teams.
• Translate complex cloud infrastructure and engineering concepts into clear, accessible documentation for varied technical personas.
• Establish documentation standards and scalable frameworks across cloud and SRE functions.
• Document onboarding patterns, guardrails, policies (e.g., tagging, SCPs), and architectural standards.
• Build and maintain content in Confluence, with integration of Markdown, Swagger, and Git-based files.
• Create supplemental data and indexing to support navigation and content discovery.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure clarity, governance adoption, and continuous feedback loops.
• Assist in knowledge transfer (KT) by organizing and consolidating technical documentation across teams.

Experience of the right candidate:

• Must have a strong technical foundation; ability to navigate Git repositories, Confluence, Markdown files, and Swagger documentation.
• Experience designing and implementing knowledge management frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to create new documentation from scratch – not just editing or organizing existing content.
• Ability to handle cross-functional collaboration with technical SMEs and leadership across diverse teams.
• Comfortable working in environments with high ambiguity and evolving documentation needs.
• Strong consultative and interpersonal skills – able to mediate and collaborate across teams with differing communication styles and cultural backgrounds.
