Job Title: Lab Technician

Job Description:

• Client is seeking an energetic, responsible, organized, detail-oriented, attentive and efficient laboratory technician.
• Main tasks will include preparation of needed materials for testing (agar plates, solutions, weighing out chemical and samples, etc.), removal of lab waste, cleaning and maintaining lab supplies and equipment, maintaining microbial cultures, and coordinating the purchase of required supplies.
• The position may also include assisting in the evaluation of customer materials using standard methods as well as customized microbiological testing methods.
• This methodology includes using both manual techniques and automated equipment for culturing microorganisms and handling chemicals for preservative efficacy determination.
• The applicant is expected to maintain a safe and clean laboratory, work safely in an R&D environment, and actively participate in company safety programs.

Skills/Experience:

Desired Qualifications:

• An Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Science, with a preference for Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology or related field.
• A High School Diploma will also be considered based on laboratory work experience or educational laboratory experience.

Experience with the following are also preferred, but not required:

• Microbial Culture Media and buffer preparation
• Aseptic technique and manipulation of microorganisms
• Familiarity with common equipment such as single (multi) channel pipettes, autoclave, centrifuge
• Awareness of biosafety procedures
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Great organizational skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word
