Successful candidates will work within a consulting practice or a financial institution providing challenging project-based services within Financial Services, covering areas such as electronic markets, trading, and risk management. Projects can be performed either on the client site on a Hybrid work basis. This role requires a proactive, team-oriented, and ambitious individual focused on delivering results, while always remaining diligent and professional.

Job Description:

This role involves hands-on development of high-performance, real-time trading platforms. The candidate will be involved in designing, developing, and deploying software, working closely with technology-focused engineers, quantitative analysts, and traders. The role requires developing common frameworks and core services to facilitate real-time pricing/risk model development, and to promote standardization and re-use of analytical calculation modules. The candidate will work on both new and existing systems and be involved in refactoring code. The role will also include supporting and maintaining front-office pricing and trading applications and assisting in investigating production and performance issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and enhance real-time analytical calculation engines and global rates electronic trading frameworks.
  • Develop pricing engines, trading strategies and execution algorithms.
  • Maintain a common analytical library and develop analytic calculation modules and services.
  • Ensure code is cleanly written, testable, and maintainable.
  • Participate in rotational production support activities.
  • Communicate with traders and quantitative analysts to clarify requirements.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve application, infrastructure, and environmental issues.

Must Have Skills and Experience:

  • 5-10 years of hands-on core Java development experience , with a significant portion in the financial sector.
  • Strong experience in designing, developing and deploying software.
  • Solid analytical skills and strong financial model background.
  • Experience with electronic trading systems design and markets , preferably in Fixed Income (Treasuries, Government bonds, Swaps, Futures).
  • Strong knowledge of real-time trading system design principles , including message-driven architecture, low latency performance, scaling, multithreaded models, and service-oriented architecture.
  • Experience with agile and modern software development/DevOps practices including iterative development, continuous deployment, CI/CD, and automated testing.
  • Proficiency in Core Java , Spring Framework, and SQL.
  • Experience with multi-threading programming and messaging middleware (such as publish/subscribe, JMS, and Tibco RV or similar technologies).
  • Competent knowledge of a variety of messaging systems and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Experience with refactoring existing code and addressing performance or design issues.
  • Experience migrating projects to a CI/CD automated build and testing approach.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux/Unix and scripting.
  • Experience with industry standard protocols like FIX, FpML.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate ideas and designs and break down problems analytically.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented setting.
  • Ability to work in a rapid front-office development environment and respond to production situations.
  • Experience with relational database modelling and querying.
  • Experience in architecting/designing large-scale business critical systems.
  • Object oriented design and usage of commonly used design patterns.
  • Comfortable with 3rd line support to assist in investigating production issues, defects, and performance issues.

Nice to Have Skills and Experience:

  • Advanced degree in financial engineering, math, physical sciences, or engineering.
  • Knowledge of fixed income products such as government bonds, interest rate swaps, and futures.
  • Experience with the Request For Quote (RFQ) negotiation workflow.
  • Experience integrating with APIs from market venues such as Bloomberg, Tradeweb, MarketAxess, Brokertec, CME, Nasdaq, Dealerweb, BGC, Valantic, and Fluent.
  • Experience with UI development, including Java Swing UI, and modern OpenFin based platforms, HTML5, and ReactJS.
  • Experience in trading system re-design migration projects, e.g., migrating capabilities from old to new trading systems.

**The base salary range for this role is $110,000 - $150,000**
