Job Description
About the Role: The Claims Adjuster plays a critical role in assessing, negotiating, and resolving complex insurance claims involving personal, casualty, and property losses. This position requires strong analytical and investigative skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders throughout the claims process. Ideal candidates bring a balance of technical knowledge, interpersonal savvy, and sound judgment to every claim they handle. The role is best suited for someone who thrives in a collaborative, dynamic, and detail-oriented environment.
Responsibilities:
Investigate, evaluate, and determine coverage and liability for various claim types
Conduct interviews with insureds, witnesses, agents, medical providers, and other involved parties
Analyze police reports, medical records, and other documents to establish claim details
Maintain timely and professional communication with insureds to gather necessary information
Negotiate settlements within authority levels or recommend litigation when needed
Document all claim activity clearly and accurately in the system of record
Collaborate with internal and external counsel, adjusters, and vendors to resolve claims
Review and apply relevant case law and legislation impacting current claims
Deliver concise reports with findings, recommendations, and settlement proposals
Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and internal standards
Manage claim caseload efficiently while prioritizing urgency and accuracy
Follow up as needed to drive claim resolution and maintain positive outcomes
Participate in internal training and development programs
Support continuous improvement efforts across the claims team
Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications:
~3+ years of experience in claims handling, preferably in property and casualty insurance
~ Knowledge of E&S (Excess and Surplus) lines preferred
~ Strong analytical, investigative, and negotiation skills
~ Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
~ Ability to interpret complex documentation, including legal and medical reports
~ High attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality
~ Bachelor's degree preferred but not required
~ Property and Casualty Adjuster License (or willingness to obtain within six months)
~ Familiarity with claim management systems and regulatory guidelines
~ Self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently and cross-functionally
