Position Overview: Kaweah Health is seeking a dynamic and visionary Chief Executive Officer to lead our organization into the future. This executive will be responsible for fostering strong relationships with our medical staff, ensuring financial stability, and driving decisive action to improve healthcare delivery across our network. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership skills, a deep understanding of healthcare operations, and a passion for community engagement.
Primary Responsibilities: The CEO will be responsible for building and nurturing relationships with doctors and medical staff, addressing concerns and fostering collaboration. They will need to be externally focused, serving as a chief support marketer and strategist to enhance our presence in the community. This leader will work closely with politicians, community leaders, and other stakeholders to build strong partnerships. Communication will be paramount, ensuring transparency and accountability at all levels of the organization. The CEO will provide stabilizing leadership, introduce innovative ideas, and empower teams to make sound decisions quickly. They will focus on fixing relationships with providers, recruitment, financial stability, and labor efficiency. The CEO will also lead the organization in quality and safety initiatives, leveraging innovation in AI and technology to improve operations. This individual will be the face of Kaweah Health at the state and federal levels, advocating for our mission and values.
Key Qualifications and Skills: The ideal candidate will be values-driven, ethical, and possess a high level of integrity. They should be relatable at all levels, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A proven track record of decisive leadership, strong physician relationships, and visibility within an organization is essential. The CEO must be transparent, accountable, and an open communicator. Strong financial acumen, innovative thinking, and a humble, supportive leadership style are also critical. Operational knowledge and a technical understanding of hospitals, doctor relationships, and regulatory matters are highly desirable.
Team and Reporting Structure: The CEO will report to the publicly elected Board of Directors. They will collaborate closely with the executive team, including the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Compliance Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Quality Officer, Chief Nurse, and CFO. This leader will be responsible for assessing the executive team, making key decisions on personnel and projects, and fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
Key Priorities in the First Six Months: In the initial six months, the CEO will prioritize improving physician relationships by enhancing accessibility to healthcare. Establishing strong operational leadership and building community relationships to reduce friction will be crucial. Additionally, the CEO will focus on employee satisfaction, facilities upkeep, staffing, and addressing any issues related to physician behavior.
Challenges and Opportunities: A key challenge will be changing the narrative with the community and addressing concerns about the financial condition of Kaweah Health. The CEO will have a significant opportunity to improve the culture and doctor relationships by breaking down barriers and promoting a collaborative environment. There also is an opportunity to leverage innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency and improve patient care.
KPIs for Success: Success will be measured by improvements in accountability to the medical staff, enhanced focus on quality and safety, and increased operational efficiencies. Key performance indicators will include financial stability, employee satisfaction, and the successful implementation of strategic initiatives.

Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate will be a strong problem-solver with a proactive approach to challenges. They must thrive in a fast-paced environment and possess exceptional communication skills. Experience in public, community, or district organizations and a background in California healthcare are advantageous.
