Job Description

This position is responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, supplies, and products necessary for production. The ideal candidate will have strong negotiation skills, solid market knowledge, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with vendors to ensure high quality and competitive pricing.

Sourcing and Procurement:

  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers for screen printing, embroidery, and promotional items.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing with vendors to secure favorable terms.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels to meet production demands while avoiding overstock.
  • Monitor stock levels, reorder points, and lead times to ensure timely material availability.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, new products, and emerging suppliers.
  • Analyze market conditions to support strategic purchasing decisions.
  • Evaluate the quality of goods from suppliers to ensure they meet internal standards.
  • Collaborate with production teams to resolve quality concerns.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key vendors.
  • Communicate order changes, delivery schedules, and quality concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Track spending and analyze purchasing data to uncover cost-saving opportunities.
  • Implement procurement strategies that reduce costs without sacrificing quality.
  • Coordinate with production, sales, and marketing to understand material and product requirements.
  • Participate in interdepartmental meetings to align purchasing strategies with broader business goals.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier communications.
  • Generate reports on purchasing activity, inventory status, and supplier performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Supply Chain Management preferred, but not required.
  • Previous experience in a buyer or procurement role; experience in screen printing, embroidery, or promotional product industries is a plus.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficiency in inventory and purchasing systems.
  • Understanding of supply chain logistics.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily office-based, with occasional visits to supplier locations or production facilities as needed.

Required Experience / Skills / Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in a finance role.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Skilled in financial analysis and modeling techniques.
