Job Description
Work anywhere. Make a difference everywhere. Help people change their lives without leaving your home office. At Beacon Disability, we’re a Social Security disability law firm dedicated to obtaining life-changing benefits for our clients. Every case you win means a family can pay their bills, see the doctors they need, and face the future with hope. We’re looking for a passionate, detail-driven attorney who thrives in a collaborative, remote-first environment - someone who wants their work to matter every single day. Here, you’ll find the flexibility to design your schedule, the support of experienced colleagues, and the satisfaction of making a tangible difference in people’s lives.
Beacon Disability was founded on a simple but powerful belief: everyone deserves a fair chance to live with dignity, irrespective of health challenges. We saw how often people were denied the disability benefits they had worked for and paid into - and how overwhelming the process could be without a strong advocate. With that in mind, founding attorney Kaitlin Wildoner built a firm dedicated to disability law, combining legal skill with compassion, efficiency, effectiveness, and persistence. Over the years, we’ve helped clients across the country secure the benefits they need to keep a roof over their heads, get essential medical care, and rebuild their futures. We’re not just here to win cases—we’re here to restore hope.
Are you passionate about advocating for individuals facing challenging circumstances? Do you thrive in a mission-driven environment where your legal expertise can make a difference? Beacon Disability is dedicated to representing clients in their claims for disability benefits and we are seeking a skilled and compassionate Social Security disability attorney to join our expanding team. With clients across the United States, we pride ourselves on providing exceptional legal representation, personalized support, and an unwavering commitment to justice for those navigating the complexities of disability law.
Position Overview
As a Social Security Disability attorney with Beacon Disability, you will represent clients at all stages of the disability claims process—from initial applications and reconsiderations to administrative hearings. You will be responsible for building strong, trust-based relationships with clients, developing persuasive legal arguments, and advocating efficiently and zealously on behalf of individuals who are often at their most vulnerable. This is a remote position.
What We Offer
• Competitive salary commensurate with experience, plus performance-based bonuses.
• Flexible work arrangements, including remote work.
• Supportive, team-oriented work culture focused on mentorship and growth.
Equal Opportunity Statement
Our firm is committed to maintaining a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds and do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, national origin, disability, or any other status protected by law. If you require accommodations during the application or interview process, please inform our team.
Responsibilities:
• Represent clients in all phases of Social Security Disability proceedings, including initial claims, reconsiderations, hearings before Administrative Law Judges (ALJs), and appeals to the Appeals Council.
• Conduct comprehensive case evaluations and develop strategies tailored to each client’s unique circumstances.
• Draft legal briefs, memoranda, and correspondence for submission to the Social Security Administration (SSA) and courts.
• Prepare clients and witnesses for hearings, including conducting pre-hearing interviews and developing testimony.
• Cross-examine medical and vocational experts at hearings.
• Maintain accurate and detailed case notes, deadlines, and communications in the firm’s case management system.
• Stay abreast of changes in Social Security law, regulations, and relevant case law.
• Collaborate with support staff to ensure timely and effective client service.
• Participate in firm-wide training, case reviews, and professional development initiatives.
Qualifications:
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active and good standing with at least one state bar; multi-state licensure is a plus.
• Experience handling Social Security Disability cases. Additional experience with either VA disability claims or ERISA disability claims is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated knowledge of SSDI, SSI, and related areas of disability law.
• Excellent oral and written advocacy skills.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a significant caseload with competing deadlines.
• Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to serve individuals with disabilities.
• Proficiency with legal research tools and case management software.
• Willingness to travel for hearings as needed (cost of travel is covered).
• Bilingual abilities are a plus but not required.
