What You'll Do

As our Safety Manager, you'll be the go-to expert for all things safety on our construction project sites in the Washington D.C. area. You'll be on the front lines daily, ensuring our operations meet the highest safety and occupational health standards. Your energy, motivation, and passion for sustainable solutions will be key as you:

  • Lead site safety: Conduct regular site inspections to ensure strict adherence to all safety protocols and OSHA compliance.
  • Train and empower: Organize and lead engaging safety training sessions for all construction staff.
  • Investigate and prevent: Thoroughly investigate all accidents and incidents to identify root causes and implement effective prevention strategies.
  • Oversee and manage: Take charge of safety oversight for all contractors and subcontractors on site.
  • Track and report: Maintain and update corporate and site-specific EHS dashboards, routinely sharing EHS metrics and reports.
  • Support documentation: Assist coordinators with critical document control and development related to safety.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of direct construction safety experience .
  • US Citizen with the ability to achieve a government security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working for a General Contractor .
  • OSHA 510 and/or 500 certification.
  • CHST or CSP certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • A thorough understanding of all relevant Federal and State safety rules and regulations.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction safety standards.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams while adapting to daily challenges.
  • The ability to diplomatically challenge, explain, and defend safety programs.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills , strong interpersonal abilities, and a talent for coaching and training others.

Location:

This role is based at our client project site in Washington D.C. While our office is in Arlington, VA, you will be required to be at the construction site daily. We're looking for candidates within commutable distance to Washington D.C. or those willing to relocate for this exciting opportunity. 

Physical Demands & Work Environment

This role requires a proactive presence on construction sites. You should be able to:

  • Stand, walk, sit, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, balance, reach, grasp, push, pull, handle, feel, and type.
  • Smell, talk, and hear.
  • See at close and distance ranges and distinguish colors.
  • Lift equipment weighing up to 75 pounds in small spaces without mechanical assistance, often on an emergency basis.
  • Work effectively both indoors and outdoors.
