The Carlisle Group has been retained to find a Senior Director of Facilities and Technical Services. Our preferred client is one of the world’s best pre-K through 12th grade private schools, where qualified students live on campus and receive a top-notch education, health care (which includes comprehensive medical, dental, and psychological care), and more—with all costs covered. The school enrolls approximately 2,000 students, has 1,600+ employees, and is located on a campus with over 5,000 acres and 598 buildings. They are one of the largest schools in the United States. The campus is one of the most well-resourced, technologically advanced, and well-maintained educational institutions in the nation. This opportunity is in Hershey, PA.

Our client is looking for a mission-aligned, creative thinker to join their leadership team as the Senior Director, Facilities and Technical Services (SDFTS). The SDFTS will have a unique opportunity to lead the delivery of exceptional service in stewardship, maintenance, and ongoing care of buildings, grounds, and physical infrastructure, in support of the school’s residential living and learning community. The SDFTS will serve as a thought leader and contributor to the VP of Administration and organizational leadership in driving results toward achieving strategic plan goals.

Highlights:

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic leadership in planning, budget management oversight in functions including new construction, total renovation, power plant operations, building trades, automotive services, and grounds.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with executive leadership to develop and execute the organizational strategic plan, supported by an up-to-date Comprehensive Master Plan. Create and execute continued integration of school-wide and operational functions to create seamless processes and efficiency.
  • Financial Management: In partnership with the executive leadership team, create and align plans for operating and capital budgets that improve efficiencies for current and future enrollment growth.
  • Operational Efficiency: Ensure efficient and effective management of administrative departments to meet budgeted operating and financial targets, leveraging data-driven decision making and emerging technologies.
  • Technology & Innovation: Lead the adoption of cutting-edge technology solutions, and automation to improve operational performance, enhance security, and optimize resources.
  • Strategic Planning: Participate in strategic planning for current and future enrollment growth. Oversee the prioritization of strategies including benchmarking and school-wide resource allocation.
  • Culture and Engagement: In partnership with the VP of Administration, create strategies which improve culture, engagement, belonging, and an entrepreneurial mindset among the facilities and technical services staff.
  • Risk Management: Plan and implement an effective enterprise risk management strategy in the award, management, and oversight of all construction and maintenance agreements that assure budget integrity, scheduled completion, and quality standards of the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in administration or a related field; MBA or other advanced training preferred.
  • Experience: 10 or more years of construction, facilities, and grounds maintenance experience. Familiarity with skilled trades, blueprints, and OSHA codes and safety management. Independent school, college, or university experience preferred.
  • Supervisory and Leadership: 7+ years of supervisory experience and 5+ years of leading other managers.
  • Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent human relations and communication skills.
  • Experience in policy formulation, strategic planning, and organizational design management.
  • Project/program evaluation and administration.
  • Strong financial acumen.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and conflict resolution.
  • Experience with change management and sensitivity to an industry and organization undergoing dynamic transformation.
