Job Description

Sustainable Talent is partnering with Nvidia a global leader who's been transforming computer graphics, PC gaming, and accelerated computing for over 25 years.

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Datacenter Technician to support our client's dynamic team responsible for maintaining and optimizing our Colossus cloud infrastructure, including data centers and labs. This is a W-2 full-time contract based in Santa Clara, CA. We offer competitive pay $70/hr - $80/hr based on factors like experience, education, location, etc. and provide full benefits, PTO, and amazing company culture!

The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about hardware, thrives in a fast-paced lab environment, and is eager to be part of a team responsible for keeping our test infrastructure running smoothly. In this role, you'll work with cutting-edge NVIDIA hardware, supporting large-scale automated testing environments where things break — and you're the one who knows how to fix them.

This is not a systems engineering, heavy scripting role — it's a hardware-focused, break/fix, test-execution position ideal for someone who wants to grow their career in datacenter hardware and infrastructure support.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Install, configure, and deploy new hardware components (servers, networks, GPUs, etc.).
  • Perform break/fix work on servers and test systems as issues arise.
  • Run automated software tests (pre-written by other teams) on test boards, identify failures, and root cause setup or hardware issues.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot server platforms, memory, CPUs, and other enterprise-grade hardware.
  • Cable systems and prepare test racks for operation.
  • Regularly remove and redeploy test boards as part of hardware/software upgrade cycles.
  • Document procedures, system configurations, and issue resolutions.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and respond to urgent test infrastructure issues.
  • Use DCIM tools, spreadsheets, and task trackers to stay organized and report status.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized lab space according to datacenter standards.
  • Assist with procurement decisions and proof-of-concept evaluations for lab hardware.

What We Need to See:

  • 4–5 years of hands-on experience in a datacenter or lab technician role .
  • Proven comfort working in loud, high-activity environments — including racking, cabling, lifting, and troubleshooting servers.
  • Foundational knowledge of Linux and Windows OS — to run commands, navigate the CLI, and execute test steps.
  • Experience working with hardware such as:
  • Desktop and server-class systems
  • Networking equipment
  • GPU platforms
  • CPUs, memory, and other system components
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and follow established test and maintenance procedures.
  • A strong interest in hardware and technology — someone who has built systems, tinkered with hardware, and is eager to learn more.

What Will Help You Stand Out:

  • Experience in Lab R&D, datacenter procurement, or rack management.
  • Familiarity with power management and PDUs in lab environments.
  • Visio or CAD experience for documenting lab layouts or system builds.
  • Ability to use Git/Perforce to check scripts in/out (basic familiarity only).

Sustainable Talent is a M/F+, disabled, and veteran equal employment opportunity and affirmative action employer.
