Job Description

Rapid Redi-Mix LLC is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Control Technician to oversee the quality assurance program at our ready-mixed concrete facility. The QC Technician is responsible for ensuring all concrete products meet customer specifications, industry standards (ASTM, ACI, DOT), and company requirements. This role involves managing mix designs, conducting field inspections, training staff, and working collaboratively with production and technical service teams to drive continuous improvement in quality and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

· Develop, implement, and maintain quality control procedures for all concrete production activities.

· Manage and verify mix designs for various applications (standard, DOT, commercial, residential).

· Ensure compliance with ASTM, ACI, state DOT specifications, and other regulatory standards.

· Supervise on-site

· Perform raw material evaluations and manage material certifications (cement, aggregates, admixtures).

· Conduct routine sampling and testing of fresh and hardened concrete (slump, air, compressive strength, etc.).

· Investigate and resolve quality complaints and non-conformance issues with internal teams and clients.

· Maintain records of test data, reports, and certifications in accordance with regulatory guidelines.

· Collaborate with operations and dispatch teams to ensure quality is maintained during batching and delivery.

· Interface with clients, engineers, and inspectors to ensure satisfaction and compliance on projects.

· Lead internal audits and participate in external audits (e.g., DOT, NRMCA).

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Materials, or related field ( preferred ).

· 5+ years of experience in ready-mixed concrete quality control, with leadership responsibilities.

· ACI Level I Field Testing Technician certification required; ACI Level II, Strength Testing, and Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician preferred.

· Experience with ASTM C94, C31, C39, C143, C231, C260, and other relevant standards.

· Familiarity with state DOT mix design submittals and performance specifications.

· Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

· Proficient in QC management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

· Ability to work in plant, lab, and field environments as needed.

Preferred Attributes:

· Experience with high-performance concrete, SCC, fiber-reinforced, or decorative concrete.

· Knowledge of sustainability initiatives such as SCMs (slag, fly ash, etc.) and EPDs.

· Experience working with production automation systems and batch plant controls.

Work Environment:

Primarily based at the ready-mix plant, with occasional travel to job sites or partner facilities.

May require lifting materials up to 50 lbs, exposure to outdoor weather, and standing for long periods.

Regular use of PPE required when working in production and field settings.
