The Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and performing daily quality control activities across all areas of the smoked seafood production facility. This role supports the development, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of food safety systems, including HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, and other regulatory programs. The position involves hands-on lab work, environmental monitoring, documentation, and data analysis to ensure all products meet company and regulatory standards.

In addition to technical responsibilities, the supervisor plays a key role in employee training, supports other departments in resolving food safety or quality concerns, and contributes to continuous improvement and cross-functional initiatives. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and a firm commitment to food safety and quality assurance standards.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 2–5 years of experience in quality control or food safety in a processing/manufacturing environment (preferred).
  • Certified in Seafood HACCP, or the ability to become certified.
  • Basic understanding of laboratory procedures and sampling techniques.
  • Knowledge of seafood processing and sensory evaluation (preferred).
  • Solid understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs).
  • Ability to follow instructions, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to accurately record data and prepare clear reports.
  • Willingness to actively listen, accept feedback, and apply continuous improvement practices.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to stand and walk on textured concrete floors for a minimum of eight hours.
  • Frequent use of arms, hands, and fingers to handle, feel, and reach for products.
  • Tasks involve a lot of pinch gripping.
  • Work environment has a moderate noise level.
  • Proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is required to prevent injury to self or others.
  • Vision requirements include: Close vision / Distance vision / Depth perception / Ability to adjust focus.

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or the equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience) preferred.
