Job Description

Property Damage Estimator / Insurance & Construction Expert

Location: New York Tri-State Area

Vehicle Required

United Public Adjusters & Appraisers, Inc. is looking for a full-time Construction Insurance Property Damage Estimator to join our growing team. We need a boots-on-the-ground professional who can accurately evaluate structural damage and prepare insurance-compliant repair estimates for both residential and commercial properties.

This is a critical role in helping our clients recover from property damage due to fire, water, storms, and more. You’ll be the eyes in the field—inspecting properties, spotting hidden damages, and producing clear, accurate scopes of work that support the claims process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site property inspections across the Tri-State area (NY, NJ, CT), with occasional travel outside the region as needed
  • Prepare detailed damage assessments and repair estimates using Xactimate or similar platforms
  • Identify code upgrades, hidden damages, and additional scopes often missed by carrier adjusters
  • Collaborate with internal team members including public adjusters, contents specialists, and claim managers
  • Support claims through documentation, photographs, and expert insights during negotiations
  • Participate in joint inspections and adjuster meetings when required

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in property damage estimating or a related construction field
  • Proficiency with Xactimate (REQUIRED)
  • Strong understanding of residential and/or commercial construction practices
  • Reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license (REQUIRED)
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout the Tri-State area—and occasionally beyond
  • Excellent organizational and written communication skills
  • Professional, compassionate communicator — able to assist property owners during times of loss
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and detail-oriented

Experience

  • Field or site: minimum of 5 years
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel: 5 years
  • Cost Estimating: 5 years

Why Join United Public Adjusters?

  • Be part of a growing, respected firm that advocates for property owners
  • Meaningful work helping families and businesses recover from major losses
  • Supportive team environment with opportunities for growth
  • Competitive compensation based on experience ($90,000 - $130,000 annual range)
  • Medical benefits, paid holidays, and paid time off
  • Full-time
