People Operations Generalist

Salt Lake City, UT - Hybrid

$35-45/hr

A successful bio-tech company in Salt Lake City is seeking two Generalists to join their rapidly growing team. One Generalist will support their US employee populations, the other their Canadian employee populations. These positions are instrumental in ensuring a positive employee experience while understanding the employment laws and practices in both countries.

Your Impact:

The successful People Operations Generalists will play a key role in supporting the full employee lifecycle – from onboarding through offboarding while drawing upon their knowledge in the respective countries. You will help ensure compliance, reduce risk, and promote HR best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Employee Relations & Support : Act as the main contact for employee HR inquiries, offering guidance on policies, benefits, compensation, and employee relations, while ensuring compliance with US and Canadian employment laws.
  • HR ProgramAdministration : Administer HR programs including leave management (FMLA, disability, parental leave), workers' compensation, and HR system updates.
  • Onboarding &Offboarding : Coordinate onboarding and offboarding for US and Canadian hires, including offer letters, background checks, paperwork, exit interviews, and final pay, ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • HR Compliance & Policy : Ensure compliance with US and Canadian employment laws by staying current on regulations and supporting consistent, compliant HR policies.
  • Benefits Administration : Support benefits administration, including RRSP and ancillary programs. Assist with enrollments, changes, and employee communication.
  • HRIS Management : Maintain accurate, confidential records in hiBob (HRIS) and generate reports to support HR initiatives and decisions.
  • Data & Analytics : Assist in collecting and analyzing HR data to identify trends and support strategic planning.
  • Continuous Improvement : Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and programs for greater efficiency, accuracy, and employee satisfaction.
  • Collaboration : Collaborate with People & Culture, Legal, Payroll, and other teams to ensure integrated people operations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Over 3 years of progressive experience in People Operations or as an HR Generalist, supporting employees across the US and Canada.
  • Solid understanding and hands-on experience with US federal and state employment laws.
  • In-depth knowledge and application of Canadian federal and provincial employment standards and regulations, including Ontario, British Columbia, and Quebec.
  • Proficient in HRIS systems with strong skills in data management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal abilities, and active listening skills.
  • Trusted to handle sensitive and confidential information with the utmost discretion and professionalism.
  • Highly organized with keen attention to detail, capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive problem solver with a solutions-focused mindset.
