Job Description

IDEAL ELECTRIC COMPANY, a 122-year-old, independent American manufacturer of high-power, specialty electric motors, generators, power systems and controls seeks an experienced candidate who is a highly organized self-starter capable of working in a fast-paced, multi-discipline team environment with the ability to manage competing priorities to achieve company goals while upholding a culture of ethics, integrity, and excellence in everything we do. This position is based in our facility in Mansfield, Ohio and plays a key role throughout our product lifecycle through design, supply, manufacture, and customer application for both manufactured products and aftermarket services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Execute pre-painting activities prior to painting if necessary, including cleaning, grinding, scraping, sanding, patching, caulking, smoothing, and masking of adjacent surfaces 
  • Perform brush and spray painting techniques on a variety of component parts, subassemblies, finished parts, and assemblies, including plant equipment and machines
  • Mix and apply all types of paint evenly to the desired finish, masking non-painted areas
  • Remove and replace filters when required, and clean filter racks
  • Clean paint booths, supplies, and equipment at the completion of the project
  • Maintain an inventory of paint and supplies according to management direction
  • Comply with OSHA/SDS guidelines with respect to the use, storage, and disposal of hazardous chemicals
  • Support team on special maintenance projects as needed
  • Operate overhead cranes and powered industrial trucks (PIT) as needed
  • Complete and submit manufacturing, quality, and other company-required documents when necessary
  • Contribute to workplace safety by following safety policies and practicing good housekeeping protocols
  • Support the company’s quality objectives by following quality policies and procedures
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
  • High school diploma or certified equivalent
  • Minimum of two years working in a manufacturing environment
  • Industrial painting experience preferred, including familiarity with various paint types, techniques, application methods, and color matching
  • Experience preparing parts for painting, including sanding, grinding, cleaning, and masking, etc.
  • Must be able to pass the respirator fit test
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to read and understand prints, use logic, and troubleshoot problems
  • Teamwork approach with excellent communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and time-management skills
  • Experience of operating equipment such as pneumatic and electric drill motor, pneumatic and electric grinder/sander, saber saw, band saw, electric tapper, steam cleaner, radial drill press, post drill, portable hand-operated hydraulic punch, hand and spray-painting equipment, paintbrushes, respirator masks, and paint suits
  • Experience operating various manufacturing equipment including forklifts, overhead cranes, and hoists
WORKING CONDITIONS AND WORK HOURS
  • Daily minimum of 8 hours. Weekly 40 hour minimum.
  • Overtime as required, subject to production schedules and may vary based upon specific department and customer needs.
  • This position generally operates in the manufacturing areas of the facility.
