A day in this role

You kick off the morning refining a returnable packaging concept in CAD, then walk the floor to see how a new tote design is improving line-side efficiency. After lunch, you meet with a supplier to tweak material specs, analyze performance data from last week’s pilot, and draft recommendations to roll out the design across multiple facilities — all while ensuring health, safety, and environmental standards are met.

What you will do

• Design and implement packaging strategies aligned with GKN standards and customer expectations.
• Create prototypes and production-ready solutions based on operational needs and product requirements.
• Collaborate closely with suppliers, facilities, and customers to drive efficiency and reliability.
• Support engineering standards and evaluate packaging effectiveness using data-driven methods.
• Collect and analyze operational data; produce clear reports and recommendations.
• Identify and resolve inefficiencies through continuous improvement and change management.
• Assist with project management for packaging development initiatives and deployments.
• Maintain strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies.
• Contribute to product development activities and assist with customer order processing.
• Manage CRM data to support customer retention and service excellence.

What you bring

Required

• Post-secondary technical education or equivalent (2-year degree).
• At least 3 years of experience in packaging engineering or logistics.
• Proficiency in CAD tools and engineering design practices.
• Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Preferred

• Associate degree or technical certification in engineering or logistics.
• Experience leading or supporting change management and continuous improvement.
• Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
• Background in customer-focused packaging solutions.
