Job Description

Title: Land Agent

Remote in Northern CA

12 months + extensions

Overview: We are seeking an experienced Land Agent to join our team, specializing in land rights, determination of rights, contract writing, and amendment writing for utility relocations specific to the high-speed rail project. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in land management, legal knowledge, and negotiation skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Land Rights Management: Oversee and manage land rights acquisition, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Determination of Rights (DOR): Conduct thorough research and analysis to determine land rights and resolve any disputes or issues. This includes identifying land rights, assessing liabilities, and determining conflicts based on project plans.

Contract Writing: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts related to land acquisition, utility relocations, and other project-specific needs.

Amendment Writing: Prepare and manage amendments to existing contracts, ensuring all changes are accurately documented and legally sound.

Utility Relocations: Coordinate and manage utility relocation efforts, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing projects and compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for landowners, utility companies, and other stakeholders, providing clear and transparent communication throughout the project lifecycle.

Project Coordination: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure all land-related aspects of the high-speed rail project are executed efficiently and effectively.

Legal Compliance: Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.

Portal Management: Manage applications through the portal for agencies, developers, and Caltrans, ensuring timely notifications and follow-ups.

Cost Estimation and Liability: Work with the estimating group to determine project costs and prepare preliminary liability letters. Manage the communication of cost liabilities and negotiate any overruns.

Salesforce Management: Utilize Salesforce for managing contracts and projects, ensuring all data is accurately recorded and updated.

Internal and External Communication: Maintain effective communication with internal and external partners, including job owners, estimators, and billing agents.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Land Management, Real Estate, Law, or a related field.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in land rights management, contract writing, and utility relocations, preferably within the context of large infrastructure projects.

Skills:

Strong understanding of land rights laws and regulations.

Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
