POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fire Alarm Technician to join our dynamic team. As a Fire Alarm Technician you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, inspecting, and troubleshooting fire alarm systems in accordance with local and national codes. Programming skills will be essential in configuring and customizing fire alarm panels to meet specific client requirements.

OBJECTIVES

  • Have 5 years’ experience with trouble shooting and testing and inspecting buildings.
  • Install and maintain fire alarm systems in commercial and residential buildings following industry standards and manufacturer specifications
  • Independently diagnose and troubleshoot complex fire alarm system malfunctions, utilizing advanced technical knowledge and expertise to identify root causes and implement effective repair or replacement solutions
  • Perform comprehensive maintenance tasks, including cleaning, calibrating, and fine-tuning fire alarm system components to optimize performance, and longevity
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and equipment to measure system performance, analyze data, and fine-tune settings to ensure optimal operation
  • Interpret and analyze system logs, trends, and performance metrics to identify potential issues, inefficiencies, and opportunities for system improvement or upgrades.
  • Conduct routine inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance on fire alarm equipment to ensure optimal system performance
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to fire alarm systems, including wiring, devices, and control panels
  • Collaborate with project managers and other team members to develop comprehensive fire alarm solutions for clients
  • Customize fire alarm panel programming to meet specific project requirements
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance and support to junior technicians
  • Complete accurate documentation, including service reports, inspection records, and work orders
  • Stay updated on industry advancements, emerging technologies, and best practices through continuous learning and professional development
  • Collaborate with the service team and dispatchers to prioritize and manage complex service calls, ensuring timely and efficient resolution of customer issues.
  • Comply with safety protocols and guidelines to ensure personal safety and the safety of team members and customers.
  • Stay current with relevant regulations, codes, and industry standards.
  • Comply with company policies, procedures, and industry regulations

COMPETENCIES

  • Knowledge of fire alarm systems, components, controls, and their interdependencies including detectors, control panels, annunciators, and initiating devices
  • Proficiency in interpreting technical manuals, diagrams, blueprints, and system logs to perform accurate repairs, installations, and system optimization.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to analyze system data, identify trends, and recommend improvements
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with customers, address concerns, and provide clear explanations of work performed

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Hold State Certification/NICET II.
  • Minimum 5 years proven experience working as a Fire Alarm Technician
  • Familiarity with relevant codes and standards, including NFPA 72 Chapter 14 and local regulations.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record (company vehicle provided)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to spend prolonged periods of time standing, sitting, or walking
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs
  • Wear safety attire, such as goggles or other protective clothing as necessary
  • Could be exposed to sounds and noise levels that are uncomfortable and distracting
  • Requires the ability to raise, manipulate and maneuver tools, components and materials and handle a variety of items, equipment, control knobs, switches, etc.
  • Work in high or elevated places and/or in tight spaces
