Director of Estimating

Position Overview

Vanir Installed Sales is seeking an experienced Director of Estimating to lead and grow our estimating department. As a leading exterior cladding installation company serving residential and commercial clients across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia with continued expansion throughout the Southeast, we need a strategic leader responsible for developing estimating talent, implementing best practices, and ensuring accurate project cost assessments that support our rapid growth in both single/multi-family residential and commercial sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

• Lead the growth and strategic development of the estimating department
• Provide guidance and instruction to Lead Estimators on industry best practices and advanced estimating methodologies
• Recruit, hire, and onboard qualified estimating professionals
• Make personnel decisions including terminations when necessary
• Conduct comprehensive performance reviews and career development planning for estimating team members
• Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture

Operational Management

• Monitor and optimize estimating team productivity and workflow
• Oversee management and configuration of estimating software systems
• Continuously refine estimating processes, tools, and software to enhance efficiency and accuracy
• Establish and maintain estimating standards, procedures, and quality control measures
• Ensure timely delivery of accurate estimates to support business development efforts

Strategic Collaboration

• Partner with Executive leadership to align estimating capabilities with company strategic goals
• Collaborate closely with Business Development team to support pursuit strategies and proposal development
• Work with Field operations to validate estimates against actual project performance
• Coordinate with Pre-Construction teams to ensure seamless project handoffs
• Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to company-wide decision making

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
• Minimum 5+ years of construction estimating experience, preferably in exterior building systems or cladding
• 5+ years in estimating leadership or supervisory roles
• Proven track record of team development and departmental growth
• Expert knowledge of estimating software and construction technologies
• Strong understanding of exterior cladding systems, installation methods, materials, and market conditions
• Experience with both residential and commercial project estimating preferred

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certifications (AACE, ASPE, or similar)
• Experience with exterior cladding systems and building envelope technologies
• Knowledge of residential and commercial installation processes
• Previous P&L responsibility
• Advanced degree in related field
• Familiarity with Southeast construction markets (NC, SC, GA and expanding regional markets)
