About the Role:

Kallmeyer is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Design Assistant to join our team. This is an entry-level role supporting the Design and Development team across the execution of four seasonal collections, reorders, and special projects. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, independent, and passionate about the process of translating refined, elaborately designed ideas into exceptional finished garments. This role is an opportunity to be part of a small, high-performing team working at the intersection of creativity and organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Design and Development team throughout the development process, from initial design concept to final product.
  • Create CADs from designer’s sketches with all garment construction details.
  • Organize and prepare samples for fittings.
  • Attend development fittings; take detailed notes and help track changes. Prepare fit notes, spec prototypes, and prepare comments for factories.
  • Create technical CADs for tech packs as needed.
  • Create cut tickets and BOMs for domestic factories and assist in handovers in midtown.
  • Assist in sourcing local trims and fabric.
  • Manage shipments to and from overseas factories.
  • Maintain tracking document for samples.
  • Track sample fabric Pos and inventory.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized design environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with the design team and assist other team members as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 0–2 years of experience in fashion design or product development; luxury or contemporary womenswear experience strongly preferred.
  • Degree in Fashion Design or a related field is preferred.
  • Sharp eye for detail and strong interest in construction, fabrication, and finishing techniques.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills with the ability to manage multiple timelines.
  • Strong proficiency Adobe Creative Cloud suite; familiarity with tech packs, BOMs, and Zedonk or other production softwares are a plus.

  • Must be based in NYC and available to work full-time on site, with ability to go to local factories on a daily and weekly basis.
