Only local candidates or those with a clear plan to be locally based for the duration of the internship will be considered.**

Are you passionate about cybersecurity and eager to make a real impact?

Cignal Cyber, a Pennsylvania-based company dedicated to providing top-tier cybersecurity solutions for small businesses and non-profit organizations, is seeking a motivated and curious Summer Intern to join our dynamic team. We're at the forefront of developing innovative approaches to cyber defense, including our AI-powered security and forensics tools.

This isn't just another internship; it's a chance to gain hands-on experience, learn from seasoned professionals, and contribute directly to protecting organizations that form the backbone of our communities.

What You'll Do (Your Impactful Role):

As our Cybersecurity and Incident Response Summer Intern, you'll dive into a variety of crucial tasks, including:

  • Assisting in the configuration and monitoring of cutting-edge security tools, identifying critical findings.
  • Supporting our lead forensic investigator by helping prepare evidence and review findings – a unique chance to see incident response up close!
  • Conducting vital research on current cyber vulnerabilities and sophisticated intrusion methodologies.
  • Developing and refining hardening guidelines for essential IT infrastructure like desktops, network security appliances, and networking equipment.
  • Exploring auditing standards and key security frameworks that guide our work.
  • Getting hands-on with innovation by assisting in the testing and evaluation of Cignal Cyber’s proprietary AI security and forensic tools.

What We're Looking For (An Eager Learner & Problem Solver):

We believe in potential and a proactive attitude! While specific advanced skills aren't a must, we're looking for someone with:

  • A Solid IT Foundation: You have a good understanding of basic operating systems (Windows/Linux) and core networking principles (like TCP/IP, DNS).
  • Cybersecurity Curiosity & Awareness: You're familiar with common cyber threats (like phishing, malware, ransomware – perhaps even how AI is changing them) and understand the importance of defenses like Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and software patching. You get why this matters, especially for small businesses and non-profits.
  • An Analytical Mindset: You enjoy thinking critically, piecing together information (even if it's just a few clues to start), and approaching challenges methodically.
  • A Genuine Drive to Learn: The cybersecurity field is always evolving! We value interns who are truly curious, ask thoughtful questions, and are excited to tackle new concepts and technologies.
  • Familiarity with Incident Response Concepts: You have a basic understanding that incident response follows a structured process.
  • Academic Path: Ideally, you're pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Digital Forensics, or a related field.

What You'll Gain (More Than Just a Summer Job):

  • Real-World Experience: Work on actual cybersecurity challenges and projects for diverse clients.
  • Mentorship: Learn directly from Cignal Cyber's CEO and our experienced team.
  • Cutting-Edge Exposure: Get hands-on with our AI-driven security and forensics tools.
  • Make a Difference: Contribute to protecting often underserved small businesses and non-profits.
  • Skill Development: Enhance your technical skills, analytical abilities, and understanding of the cybersecurity landscape.

Additional Position Details:

  • This is an on-site, part-time, temporary position - approximately 20 hours/week.
  • USD Pay: Starting at $20.00/hour, commensurate with competencies, skills, knowledge, education, and experience.

Cignal Cyber is an equal-opportunity employer. Employment with our company is based solely on a person's merit and qualifications directly related to professional competence. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, family status, marital status, pregnancy, or related condition (including breastfeeding), sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status, or any other or any other basis protected by law.
