Position Overview: We are seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Claims Consultant with experience in General Liability and Excess Coverage. This role involves investigating, evaluating, and resolving moderate to high-severity claims while maintaining a strong focus on client service, compliance, and timely resolution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of general liability and excess coverage claims from initial notice through resolution.
  • Conduct thorough investigations, including coverage analysis, liability determination, and damage assessment.
  • Evaluate claims for potential exposure and establish appropriate reserves.
  • Collaborate with legal counsel, insureds, brokers, and third-party vendors to ensure efficient and equitable claim resolution.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to internal claims handling guidelines and industry best practices.
  • Provide timely and strategic recommendations to management regarding claim developments and settlement opportunities.
  • Represent Golden Bear in mediations, settlement conferences, and negotiations as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience handling general liability and/or excess coverage claims.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance coverage forms, claims processes, and litigation management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  • High degree of professionalism and customer service orientation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or CPCU designation.
  • Experience working in a surplus lines or specialty insurance environment.
  • Familiarity with construction defect, products liability, or environmental claims.
