Job Title: Civil Engineer

Contract: 6 month contract - hire

Start date: June 30th

Schedule: Monday - Friday 4-5 days in office

Location: Winchester VA

Responsibilities

Our client is looking for a Civil Engineer in the Winchester, VA or Reston VA office to perform various activities related to environmental consulting. You should be motivated, eager to learn, embrace teamwork, and have the desire to develop professionally. Project responsibility will have a primary focus on civil and environmental engineering services, landfills and landfill infrastructure, waste transfer stations, materials recovery facilities, solar, and other projects which require design, engineering, permitting, construction and operations support.

Prepares and reviews engineering calculations, drawings, reports, and permit applications.
Manage projects and personnel to meet both client and SCS expectations
Makes decisions independently on engineering or scientific problems and methods, plans and coordinates work, and represent at meetings and conferences.
Field work in varied terrain and weather will be required, including but not limited to, surveys/data gathering, construction quality assurance, inspections, etc.
Office-based tasks including: CAD drafting, mathematical calculations, report writing, site planning and facility design, permit applications, etc.
Receive technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans or projects.
Travel (day trips or overnight, 10% of travel expected)

Must Haves:

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related engineering major required.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in land development required - can be residential or commercial
MUST BE WILLING TO LEARN STORMWATER, WASTE WATER, SOLID WASTE ENVIRONMENT
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D design software
Valid driver's license with a driving record in good standing required
