About the Role

The City of Goshen is seeking a City Civil Engineer to lead our dynamic Engineering Department. Reporting to the Director of Public Works and Utilities, this high-impact role combines leadership, technical expertise, and community engagement to oversee Goshen's public infrastructure projects.

As City Engineer, you’ll guide department activities, collaborate with community members and public agencies, and provide technical expertise to boards and commissions such as the Goshen Plan Commission and Traffic Commission. You will also play a hands-on role in project design, construction management, and the development of city standards that enhance Goshen's livability.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Goshen Engineering Department, including staff supervision and project delegation.
• Develop construction documents, oversee project lifecycles, and maintain compliance with city, state, and federal codes.
• Advise city boards and commissions on infrastructure, traffic, and right-of-way standards.
• Oversee public works infrastructure, including wastewater, stormwater, water, and roadway systems.
• Manage departmental budgets, project programming, and asset management.
• Engage with stakeholders, including developers, consultants, and community members, to ensure project success.

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Five years of relevant work experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Indiana.

Preferred Experience:

• Federal Aid funding solicitation and project management experience.

Skills and Abilities:

• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Proficiency in technical writing, project planning, and budgeting.
• Knowledge of federal and state permitting and codes.
• Experience with office software (word processing, spreadsheets, email, and calendaring).
