Role: AWS DevOps Engineer

Location: Brampton, ON

Mode: Contract

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Cloud Engineer with deep expertise in AWS and working knowledge of Azure to lead cloud engineering initiatives and drive automation across cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing, implementing, and managing scalable, secure, and resilient cloud environments, with a passion for automation and DevOps practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cloud Architecture & Engineering:
  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and highly available cloud solutions primarily on AWS and secondarily on Azure.
  • Lead cloud migration and modernization projects, ensuring minimal disruption and optimal performance.
• Automation & DevOps:
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, and ARM templates.
  • Automate deployment pipelines using CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
  • Implement configuration management using Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
• Security & Compliance:
  • Ensure cloud environments adhere to security best practices and compliance standards (e.g., ISO, SOC2, HIPAA).
  • Implement identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and monitoring solutions.
• Monitoring & Optimization:
  • Set up cloud monitoring, logging, and alerting using tools like CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Datadog, or Prometheus.
  • Optimize cloud resource usage and cost through performance tuning and rightsizing.
• Collaboration & Leadership:
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including developers, architects, and business stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to cloud engineering best practices and documentation.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Cloud Expertise:
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, VPC, IAM, etc.)
  • 3+ years of experience with Azure services (VMs, Azure Functions, Storage, Networking, etc.)
• Automation & DevOps:
  • Strong experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, and CI/CD tools.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
• Security & Networking:
  • Solid understanding of cloud security principles, VPNs, firewalls, and load balancers.
• Certifications (Preferred):
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or similar
