Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to manage and analyze clients' financial data. The role involves preparing financial statements, communicating with clients for data collection, troubleshooting software issues, and maintaining client satisfaction. This position reports to the Director of Accounting and does not have direct reports.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare accurate financial statements by gathering and analyzing data from clients, accounting software, and other departments.
Record inventory transactions each period.
Enter transactions into accounting software when not captured through point-of-sale (POS) systems.
Troubleshoot software issues and address specific queries regarding system mapping and coding.
Review, code, and import banking transactions into the accounting software.
Track and record petty cash, paid outs, and daily deposits when not processed through POS.
Maintain cash flow tools for clients who use them.
Prepare and reconcile general ledger entries, ensuring proper records of assets, liabilities, expenses, and sales.
Analyze and adjust period-end financials, including accruals, amortization of prepaid expenses, and depreciation of fixed assets.
Prepare and file tax forms, including 8027s, business tax license renewals, and other quarterly filings.
Perform quarterly balance sheet reconciliations for all assigned clients.
Address questions from the Board of Equalization (BOE) or other agencies when necessary.
Respond to accounting and financial inquiries by researching and verifying data, and prepare reports as needed.
Work closely with clients to clarify financial details and obtain necessary information.
Participate in special projects as assigned by the Director of Accounting or Operations.

Required Experience & Education
A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
At least one year of experience as a general ledger accountant.
Experience in the restaurant industry (front-of-house, back-of-house, or management) is required.
Candidates with 5+ years of extensive accounting experience without a degree will also be considered.
Comfort with cloud-based systems is essential, as most work will be completed using computer-based software.
This position may occasionally require evening or weekend work, leading to overtime.
