Role Responsibilities

• Lead and manage third-party design teams, ensuring high-quality deliverables that meet project-specific requirements, codes, and standards from AHJs and ConEd, as well as supplier product specifications. While technical by training, this role emphasizes oversight and coordination rather than hands-on design work.
• Act as a cross-disciplinary integrator, bridging different engineering specialties (civil, electrical, mechanical, etc.) to ensure seamless integration across all trades and optimize overall project performance.
• Identify opportunities for value engineering by reviewing and enhancing third-party designs to achieve greater efficiency, cost savings, and system performance.
• Absorb and synthesize complex technical information, including site-specific details, equipment specifications, and geographic considerations, to guide design teams in their work.
• Provide technical guidance during procurement, ensuring selected equipment aligns with project needs and design intent.
• Support Project Managers throughout the construction and commissioning phases by reviewing contractor change orders, as-built drawings, and inspection reports, and offering actionable recommendations.
• Develop technical drawings and narratives to support permitting processes when necessary.
• Maintain strong relationships with design firms, understanding their processes and constraints, while driving integration and innovation to elevate project outcomes.

Qualifications and Skills

• Technical Background : MS in engineering, with expertise in a core discipline such as civil or electrical engineering. PE license preferred.
• Experience : Minimum of 5 years in MW-scale power generation projects, ideally with experience in a design firm followed by roles emphasizing design integration or serving as a Lead Engineer.
• Cross-Disciplinary Expertise : Ability to understand and integrate multiple engineering trades into cohesive project designs.
• Value Engineering : Proven ability to identify and implement design optimizations, especially at the interfaces between disciplines.
• Project Oversight : Strong management skills to oversee external design teams and ensure project objectives are met.
• Technical Acumen : Comfortable synthesizing diverse streams of technical data (equipment specs, site specifics, regulatory requirements) and effectively communicating this to design teams.
• AutoCAD Proficiency : Fluency in AutoCAD and familiarity with other design tools.
• Organized and Detail-Oriented : Process-driven with a keen eye for detail, ensuring all work adheres to the highest standards.
• Problem Solving : Comfortable addressing challenges and pursuing innovative solutions.
• Location : Based in NYC, with daily in-office work at the Brooklyn location.
