SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
- Perform all duties and responsibilities within the guidelines of the Gage Products Company’s Vision, Mission, Quality Policy and Environmental Management Statements.

- Utilize procedures to prevent product, service, and process non-conformances
- Identify and record any problems

- Ensure that environmental issues are managed according to legal requirements, the environmental policy, the environmental management system procedures and good management practices.

- Maintain an awareness of objectives and targets pertaining to work and the importance of achieving the objectives and targets.
- Understand both the Communications and the Emergency Preparedness and Response Procedures.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee day to day management of the QC laboratory including all testing, record keeping, QC staff supervision, and budget
- Maintain safety and environmental policies and procedures for lab operations and personnel
- Provide supervision, leadership, and training to laboratory technicians
- Utilize problem solving skills to assist internal and external customers
- Maintain the ISO 9001 and 17025 requirements that pertain to the QC lab
- Ensure that the lab equipment is calibrated and kept in good working order
- Recommend new equipment and methodologies
- Review and maintain test methods and work instructions
- Work with manufacturing to improve the production process
- Coordinate activities with outside testing laboratories
- Maintain general housekeeping of the laboratory
QUALIFICATIONS (Skills, knowledge, experience):
- Bachelor of Science in Chemical engineering or related science
- 5+ years QC laboratory experience, with at least 3 years supervising a manufacturing QC laboratory
- Strong knowledge of chemistry and chemical engineering concepts
- Experience with gas chromatography and mass spectroscopy
- ISO 9001 and 17025 experience
- Experience with instrumentation maintenance and calibration methods
- Understanding of analyst training programs and their implementation
- Ability to take new test methods from initial development to implementation
- Experience with process continuous improvement
- Proficiency in MS Office and ERP programs
- Ability to lead and collaborate within a fast-pace and team-based environment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
