Our team is growing, and MassBio is seeking a Communications Specialist to support the communications department’s day-to-day operation, including implementing communications strategy, managing cross-department projects, and executing storytelling campaigns. Reporting to the Senior Director of Communications & Media Relations, the position will be responsible for writing content such as press releases, blog posts, and letters; collaborating with marketing on social media content management; collecting weekly industry news clips; and assisting with video and graphic projects. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented with will have experience in a fast-based environment and exceptional skills in writing and editing. 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Write a variety of content to support communications efforts, especially blog posts, news articles, press releases, media advisories, and letters
  • Assist the Senior Director in developing and implementing a communications strategy designed to further MassBio strategic objectives
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Department on social media content and management, especially LinkedIn; prepare copy for recurring posts, including Member Monday, Welcome Wednesday, and Funding Friday
  • Assist with the creation of graphic and videos for communications projects
  • Monitor analytics and create reports detailing the effectiveness of communications campaigns and strategies
  • Collect weekly industry news clips for internal distribution
  • Monitor for breaking news relevant to the biopharma industry and MassBio members
  • Engage with member companies through their LinkedIn accounts
  • Perform outreach to influencers to build strategic partnerships and explore collaboration opportunities 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in business, marketing, English, journalism, communications or similar field
  • 2+ years experience in a communications or public relations role
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills
  • Superior time management and organizational skills
  • Strong ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, shift priorities when necessary, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office applications (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) and capable of creating visually compelling presentations
  • Knowledge of Adobe Express and Adobe Premiere a plus, but not required
  • Knowledge of and adherence to communications ethics and best practices
